It comes off the estate's Pianrosso cru down in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, where iron rich red soils give the wine its name and a deep, mineral backbone. This is traditional Brunello through and through, all Sangiovese, hand picked, and given years in big Slavonian oak casks rather than flashy new barrels. The result is dark and
